My name is Carl and I’m a fully qualified and BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist. I hold regular clinics in Ashford, Kent TN24. I also provide CBT online via Skype and video link.
I have over seven years’ experience in the treatment of a wide range of complex psychological difficulties using CBT and I have worked in a variety of settings, including prisons and secure environments, community clinics and GP surgeries. I am also a qualified Life Coach.
My primary interests are in the treatment of anxiety and depression, including the treatment of OCD, social phobia and post-traumatic stress disorder. I have also undertaken additional training in compassion focused therapy and CBT for long term physical health conditions. Before working as a therapist I spent 10 years working in secondary care and Probation services, which helped me to develop a diverse understanding of how mental health issues can impact upon many sectors of society.
I am an experienced clinical supervisor to both trainee and qualified CBT therapists and completed IAPT supervisor training in 2014 with Surrey University. I attend regular continuing professional development training to ensure my clinical practice remains in line with the latest research and in 2016 I received an employer commendation for clinical expertise and experience.
I currently work with adults aged 18 years and above. My approach to therapy is professional, committed and transparent and I have a compassionate and approachable manner. I believe in building strong alliances with those with whom I work and place the needs of the client at the heart of my practice. I am passionate about CBT because it offers a practical and effective way to overcome difficult thoughts and emotions and helps a person move toward their goals in a collaborative manner.
I abide by the professional and ethical standards laid down by the BABCP and I hold full professional indemnity insurance. I also hold current DBS clearance.
